Course Overview

1-Week Entry-Level Training Course

Our Deckhand Training program is a fast-paced, hands-on course designed to prepare individuals for immediate employment in the inland marine industry. In just one week, students learn the core duties and safety responsibilities of an entry-level deckhand working on a towboat or barge. Participants gain practical knowledge and skills needed to work safely and efficiently in a maritime environment.

  • Hazard Communications
  • Countermeasures on Water
  • Basic First Aid for Maritime Industry
  • Slips, Trips and Falls Prevention
  • Emergency Procedures and Man-Overboard Drills
  • Onboard Responsibilities and Expectations

Training Requirements

  • Must be 18+ years of age
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency
  • Physical, MRI, and Background Check required
